چکیده

A fluorochemical surfactant was used to reduce the surface tension of 4 per cent sodium hypochlorite from 70 mN/m to 27 mN/m. The solution was stable for more than one month when tested for reduced surface tension, available chlorine, and protein solvent ability. No chemical residue remained on the root canal wall when viewed using scanning electron

Evaluation of the Effect of Sodium Hypochlorite Irrigant on Pull-out Bond Strength of FRC Posts Using Different Resin Cements

Introduction: To evaluate the effects of using sodium hypochlorite irrigant on pull-out bond strength of self-etch and self-adhesive resin cements to dentin. Methods: Sixty intact premolars were decoronated and the root canals were prepared by step-back technique. The teeth were divided into two groups according to the irrigant used during root canal treatment: 5.25% sodium hypochlorite and nor...

Impact of Ultrasonic Activation on the Effectiveness of Sodium Hypochlorite: A Review

Using ultrasonic devices in endodontics can enhance the antibacterial and tissue dissolving ability of different root canal irrigants such as sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) which is the most common irrigant with excellent antibacterial and tissue dissolving abilities. However, due to its high surface tension, its penetration into the irregularities of the root canal system is a challenge. The purp...

Tissue dissolution by sodium hypochlorite: effect of concentration, temperature, agitation, and surfactant.

AIM Sodium hypochlorite is the most commonly used endodontic irrigant because of its antimicrobial and tissue-dissolving activity. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the effects of concentration, temperature, and agitation on the tissue-dissolving ability of sodium hypochlorite. In addition, a hypochlorite product with added surface active agent was compared with conventional hyp...

Antibacterial Effect of Sodium Hypochlorite Gel and Solution on Enterococcus faecalis

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to compare the antibacterial effect of sodium hypochlorite gel and solution on Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis). The main purpose of a root canal treatment is to eliminate the bacteria and their products. Sodium hypochlorite solution has excellent antibacterial properties, but also some negative features. Materials and methods: Fifty six single...

Surface tension comparison of four common root canal irrigants and two new irrigants containing antibiotic.

The aim of this study is to compare the surface tension of four common endodontic irrigants: Moltendo EDTA 17%, Cetrexidin, Smear Clear, Sodium hypochlorite 5.25%, with the surface tension of MTAD and Tetraclean. Freshly produced MilliQ water was used as a reference. All measurements were performed following the Wilhelmy plate technique, using a Cahn DCA-322 Dynamic Contact Angle Analyzer at th...
